International Registry of Sunken Ships

  • If you are not sure which report is the one you need then please e-mail me. I will tell you where to find what you are looking for. If it is just one vessel then do not go looking for a report, e-mail me the info and I will run a search for you.

  • All reports are sent by e-mail attachment. Larger files will be zipped prior to sending. If you loose or damage it I will re-send a copy.

  • A note of caution - No database has a list of all vessels wrecked or sunk. They have a list of wrecks that they have been able to accumulate to this point in time. There are some lists with good information and then again, some lists that are copies of copies.

  • For those of you who are into maps showing wreck locations may I suggest Google Earth, and its free to download. There are indeed several wrecked ships to be seen worldwide and there are places that you can actually search underwater. It also shows the long and lat that you have the pointer sitting at. Learn to create overlays showing the data that you wish to save, then, why stop at just one overlay. Quite the program, indeed.

  • Can I guarantee long/Lat positions. No.

  • This DB not on the web. Reports are ordered and sent out from this end..... .New entries and updates are performed In House. This tends to avoid conflicting data and duplicates entered from multiple sources..

  • Cargo lists. The best place for a detailed cargo list is probably Lloyds of London. There is also a Maritime Insurer in New York that competed with Lloyds but I do not recall their full name. Hull and cargo are both insured separately. If paid out, the Insurer owns ship and cargo. If you are going after the cargo make sure you have a deal with the owner. If you buy and old wreck be careful, you just might find yourself liable for future problems relating to that wreck..

  • Deep sea or mid ocean wrecks are not listed, there are just too many. If you would like to know if I have anything on a deep wreck that you are interested in then just e-mail me. .
